New Meaning are working to fund and launch a new, self-contained "PACE Centre" in Cambridge. PACE is our acronym for Pro-Active Community Enterprise.
PACE can help young adults, disenfranchised and unemployed become self-sufficient, resilient, confident professionals ready for work and life. We work primarily with those who are outside of the "normal" education and training progression routes.
We are seeking new build land to establish our ethical, affordable, zero-carbon, construction projects as separate, self-sustaining social enterprise businesses.
We are about to start construction on six modular, relocatable, single person's dwellings for the Cambridge City Council "Housing First" project. These will become homes for six currently homeless people. Jimmy's shelter will provide case worker support. If this pilot is a success, more homes are likely to be built in Cambridge and beyond.
Alongside this work, New Meaning Foundation offers our "Working with Initiative" programme of group and individual training, mentoring and counselling to unemployed people often described as "hardest to reach".
We offer an informal environment with the emphasis on helping you pursue non-advertised work, to discover, recognise and communicate well your strengths, practice how to present yourself to customers and future employers, or how to set up your own business (if that is what interests you).
This New Meaning programme has helped more than 200 people into sustainable, meaningful work over the last 6 years.
